The Low Down on Novel Scramble

As you all should know by now I am introducing a new game on the blog called Novel Scramble. It’s a monthly feature in which you can win prizes. Novel Scramble will officially open on the first of each month and close on the last day of each month. On the first of the month I will announce the previous month’s winner, the previous month’s correct answer and the current’s month prize.

Now as to what pertains to Novel Scramble, there are four puzzle pieces to be found, deciphered and put together. I will show you an example of one of the ways I plan on using to hide a puzzle piece  tomorrow in my review on The Cuckoo’s Calling. So out of the ten to twelve reviews I post throughout the month only four will contain puzzle pieces. After my example tomorrow I will not give any hints as to which review contains a puzzle piece. You are welcome to speculate in the comments section with other bloggers or on other social platforms but I cannot partake in it.

Once you have found the puzzle pieces in the reviews you then have to decipher them. Here’s an example of what puzzle pieces will look like before and after they are deciphered.

Puzzle Piece #1) The boy who lived was standing on a bridge so famous, they made a song about it.

DecipheredHarry Potter was standing on London Bridge.

Puzzle Piece #2) When the girl on fire saw the scar she knew it was him. Her hand tightened the one holding it and they slowly but surely made their way to the boy.

Deciphered: When Katniss Everdeen saw the scar she knew it was Harry Potter. Her hand tightened the one holding it and they slowly but surely made their way to Harry.

Puzzle Piece #3) A boy known for bread and cakes held the hand of the girl. They were meeting someone who would change their lives forever. The two that held hands were about to learn the truth.

DecipheredPeeta Mellark held Katniss Everdeen’s hand. They were meeting Harry Potter whom would change their lives forever. Peeta and Katniss were about to learn the truth.

Puzzle Piece #4) The scarred boy saw the two approach. They asked him a question on everyone’s minds. When they pressed him with “why?” he answered, “the pale pianist is hotter when he is the guy who died in the fourth one because the latter isn’t making out with the clumsy girl who prefers monsters.” The two holding hands nodded, satisfied with finally having the answer.

DecipheredHarry Potter saw Katniss and Peeta approach. They asked him a question on everyone’s mind. Whey they pressed him with “Why?” he answered, “Edward Cullen is hotter when he is Cedric Diggory because the latter isn’t making out with Bella Swan.” Katniss and Peeta nodded, satisfied with finally having the answer.

Final Answer: Harry Potter was standing on London Bridge. When Katniss Everdeen saw the scar she knew it was Harry Potter. Her hand tightened the one holding it and they slowly but surely made their way to Harry. Peeta Mellark held Katniss Everdeen’s hand. They were meeting Harry Potter, whom would change their lives forever. Peeta and Katniss were about to learn the truth. Harry Potter saw Katniss and Peeta approach. They asked him a question on everyone’s mind and when they pressed him with “Why?” he answered, “Edward Cullen is hotter when he is Cedric Diggory because the latter isn’t making out with Bella Swan.” Katniss and Peeta nodded, satisfied with finally having an answer.

After you have deciphered the puzzle pieces and put all four together to create the final answer you then must email me your submission. Note: this can be done via email, direct messaging over twitter, private messaging over Facebook– any form that is not public. If you submit your answer where others can see it, like in the comments section or in tweet form then I will ignore it and it will not count. (Sorry, but there has to be rules).

On submitting a response, your final answer should look similar to the example above. It should contain all four puzzle pieces, deciphered and put together to form a mini story. If your answer does not match the correct answer I will let you know but cannot tell you what does or doesn’t match. You are allowed five entries per round of Novel Scramble, meaning with each new month you get five entries. These cannot rollover and be used for the next month. (I’m not a phone company people).

If you are the winner I will let you know and work out a means to send your prize. I ask that you refrain from tweeting or announcing in any way that you won until I’ve officially made the announcement on my blog on the first of the month. There is no limited amount of times that you can participate, just because you win one month doesn’t mean you can’t win the next month. It is entirely up to your inner sleuth.
