Bloggin’ Recap: Exhausted and Happy

blogginrecapheader.jpg

It’s Sunday, the beginning of a new week so that means it’s time for a Bloggin’ Recap. A feature inspired by A Bookish Heart. Every Sunday I’ll get the chance to tell you what’s going on in my life, what I’ve posted for the week, what to expect in the upcoming week and posts I enjoyed from other bloggers.

In Real Life

Wow, it’s Sunday already? When did that happen!? I shouldn’t be surprised, I mean the year is already half way over! Time is a funny thing. We count down to the very last second of our lives which helps us schedule and plan but is it really beneficial in the end? Here’s a post I found on Pinterest a while back that gives an interesting perspective on time:

Deep thoughts, right? Well that’s enough of that for now, I don’t encourage seriousness in large doses. On to my week! It was long, exhausting and so much fun! I love the library! We had walkthrough this week which ensures chaos and deals with moving MANY textbooks (my body hurts) and in fact, I’m discovering there’s a whole lot of nitty gritty in being a librarian that no one tells you about. I feel like I should write a tell all book called: Seeing Librarians From the Other Side of the Desk. Eh? Million dollar maker? Probably not. Even though my feet are screaming at me I have to say that I’m loving my job. I think it’s worth the hustling of textbooks if simply to be surrounded by those that love books.

Along with the back breaking labor that comes with being a librarian, I’m in the midst of rehearsal for a new play I’m directing. This is what my life looked like for the past week:

  • Alarm rings
  • Punch the alarm in the face (except I’m still half asleep so I miss and just punch air)
  • Go to work
  • Come home from work
  • Work on blogging related things
  • Give up on blogging related things and take a nap
  • Go to rehearsal
  • Come home and finish blogging related things that I should have finished before
  • Go to sleep

Isn’t that a hard life? How do people deal with only taking ONE nap in the day? Luckily I have my fix to help me get through! I get by with a little help from my friends!

Oh and before I go, I’m sorry about no Scanning the Skies post yesterday. I had everything ready to go when at the last minute my beta reader (fancy term for sister) found a fatal error in the format. So I had to reschedule it and delay the post. Sorry folks! But I will share a sneak peak!

Unfortunately because I got so sidetracked with reformatting my Scanning the Skies feature I wasn’t able to collect a list of great posts around the blogoshpere. But this only means that next week’s list will have to be twice as long! How was your week?

  1. That passage about time is so interesting! It completely true, when you think about it. Life would be so much more simple if we didn’t keep track of time like we do now!
Isn’t working at a library amazing? I’m a page at my local library, so I’m not a true librarian (because I’m only seventeen) but I absolutely love it! It’s such a great feeling to be around books and readers all day. 😀

    • It is, isn’t it? Measuring time is something man made for sanity but sometimes I think it causes us to go the opposite route. I didn’t know your were a page at your local library, that’s awesome! So are you pursuing a career in library science?

  2. You did have a busy week. I’m so glad you are liking your job. That is a big thing in happiness.

Runts are awesome!!! I also really like the chewy ones too.

  3. Love the timekeeping passage — very true. Terrifyingly relate-able (apparently relatable isn’t a word according to spell check? How about we just go with relevant…) I love the Scanning the Skies button. 🙂

  4. Working and Blogging – It is a hard life but I wouldn’t give it up! 🙂
And I’d love to see a tell-all post about being a librarian on your blog. 😉

Scanning the Skies sounds flipping amazing so can’t wait to see more of that. Glad to see that you had a busy but awesome week, Lindsey!

    • Exactly! Though the balance is hard at times, it is so rewarding in the end. Good idea Nuzaifa! I’m thinking maybe even a series on what goes into being high school librarian maybe? Thanks!
